Säumer, 14. Jahrhundert

Toni der Bergbauer aus dem Urserental hat die Säumerei als neue, zusätzliche Einkommensquelle entdeckt. Er gibt Einblicke in das harte Leben als Säumer und führt die Besucherinnen und Besucher durch die Schöllenenschlucht und über den Gotthardpass.

Führung im historischen Kostüm

Sechs einzigartige Zeitzeugen machen das Mittelalter im Forum Schweizer Geschichte Schwyz erlebbar. Bei einer unvergesslichen Führung durch die Ausstellung «Entstehung Schweiz» gewähren die zeitgemäss gekleideten Charaktere verschiedene Einblicke in das Leben vergangener Tage. Die Fachreferentinnen und Fachreferenten verleihen jeder historischen Figur eine eigene Stimme.

Ritter Arnulf von Hohenklingen, Äbtissin Mechthild von Seedorf, Kaufmannsfrau Margherita di Domenico Bandini, Student Walter Eschenbach, Gertrud Stauffacher und Säumer Toni aus dem Urserental – sie alle erzählen spannende Geschichten aus jener Zeit, als Adlige und Geistliche den Alltag bestimmten.

The exhibition

Lebensgrosser Ritter mit Lanze auf Pferd

The permanent exhibition at the Forum of Swiss History by the title of ‘Switzerland in the Making. Through the 12th to the 14th Century’ focuses on the foundation and early development of the Old Swiss Confederacy in the Middle Ages. Designed as an adventure tour to address our senses, the exhibition appeals to children and adults alike. The extraordinary scenography over all three floors makes a visit to the museum an event to remember.
